Make your own paper maché pumpkins

I loved making paper maché as a kid and was so excited to try it with my toddler for the first time. Usually his attention span for art projects is short (standard for all toddlers, no?) but I was surprised how long this lasted!

I’ll be honest, this wasn’t a quick project. It was super messy and I lost patience with myself along the way. But was it worth it? I would have to say, yes. We tried something new together and the result was great!

Introducing Earlybird: An activity platform to keep your kids busy, engaged, and happy!

Parents, can you relate? I dream up a fun activity for my 18 month old, I prep all the material, and then WHOOSH it’s over faster than it would take me to re-read this sentence. Young kiddos are changing, developing, and processing new things so quickly and just like that they’re done and onto the next activity. It’s hard to keep them engaged and it’s so challenging to always come up with something fun to do. Plus, if you’re like me, you struggle to ensure they’re doing activities that promote their developmental milestones.

Well parents, we can all breathe a sigh of relief… I’m SO excited to introduce you to Earlybird (if you haven’t already caught on and become an Earlybird parent!).

Simple DIY Valentine’s Day card

Are you like me and love making your own greeting cards, but seem to be repeating the same design over and over?

While there were so many other things I should have done during the baby’s nap yesterday, I instead decided to make Valentine’s Day cards (we all need some offline-non-chore time, don’t we?).

I was reminiscing about elementary school craft time when we’d make accordion hearts or stick figures. Or when we’d fold up paper and make snowflakes. So I thought I’d revert back to my grade 3 craft days and make some paper hearts!

An unforeseen housing market for 2020: How can buyers and sellers position themselves for success during uncertain times?

I love following the real estate market. In my spare time (okay so I don’t really have spare time anymore) I love scrolling through listings. Now, it was my assumption, like many of the global markets, that my hometown’s housing market would also come to a halt. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Relationship check-in: An interview with therapist Ginger Henderson

It’s that time of year when the days are getting shorter, it’s dark when you start work and again when you wrap up, the kids may be back in school and routines feel busier than ever, and depending on where you live it’s either super rainy or even starting to snow. Oh, and we’re approaching nine months of living with Covid here in Canada! I’m really starting this blog post off on a light note hey? Haha. But seriously, I thought it was time for a check-in.

No matter where you live, there’s a common thread amongst all couples and families: Everyone is spending more time together than ever before.

How has this affected relationships?

Managing information-overload as a new parent and my 4 go-to resources

I recently became a new mom, which has been the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Any new parent will agree that those first couple of days, weeks, and months, are unimaginably precious.

That excitement and love is then coupled with fear, sleep deprivation, and the steepest learning curve imaginable.

How to paint a brick fireplace: My 6 easy steps

It’s amazing just how much a coat of paint (or two) can totally transform a room. We recently moved into a 1970s era home and started tackling some of the more surface-level renovations shortly after we moved in.

One of these projects included painting the brick fireplace in our main living room. I get asked about it often so thought I’d share how I did it!
