Social media hack: Changing your Instagram highlight cover photo

It’s something I come across almost every day. I’m watching the latest reel of Instagram stories play, when I see something that doesn’t belong. I’ll see an icon of sorts with a solid background and no context, followed by a similar themed icon in the next story… followed by a story with text that says ‘excuse our stories – we’re updating our highlight covers!’.

Insta changes: Recent updates you need to know

It’s no secret Facebook has been making some huge changes to its platform and privacy settings in recent weeks. Since Facebook owns Instagram, its sweeping changes affect both platforms.

This comes after a flood of headlines broke out in March when it was publicly disclosed that the social media giant allowed the data of 10s of millions of users to be accessed by Cambridge Analytica, a political consulting firm.
