3 simple ways to monitor your business’s reputation daily

With a new year underway, perhaps you’re establishing some new routines. We thought it’d be a good time to help you set some goals to keep your reputation strong throughout 2019!

Below are three super simple tips you’ve likely already implemented for your business, but we often hear of how easy it can be to fall out of the reputation-management-routine. If that’s the case for you, know you’re not alone! Take a couple of minutes for this quick reputation refresher and you could save yourself a headache in the long run!

1. Set up Google alerts

Taking a few minutes to set up Google alerts for yourself and your business could save you big time in the event you get mentioned online and need to respond quickly. Setting up Google alerts is easy to do here

This isn’t just for monitoring negative comments or reviews, this can be super helpful when someone makes a positive mention of you or your business, which you can then share to increase engagement and build trust.

2. Set a calendar reminder to check review sites

Is your business in a position to get online reviews? Then checking review sites should be part of your daily routine. It’s something that’s easy to forget, but by checking sites like Yelp daily you can lessen the risk of a missed review – good or bad. You should be quick to respond so bad reviews don’t go unattended and viral, but quickly responding to positive reviews can be equally valuable as you have an opportunity to build loyalty and increase the likelihood of repeat business.

3. Keep a close eye on your social media

Similar to news alerts and Yelp reviews, it’s no secret, news on social media travels quickly.

The frequency in which you should check your accounts depends on your industry and how much your audience is online of course, but we recommend checking periodically throughout the day. You can also keep a window open on your desktop to see comments as they come in, or set notification alerts on your phone.

Also, make sure you don’t just stick to monitoring your own social accounts. Tweetdeck is a great tool for monitoring Twitter hashtag streams, following industry trends, or for keeping a close eye on your competition by creating and following private lists. And don’t forget to follow your competitors on Facebook and Instagram as well!

Lastly, we recommend getting in the habit of checking hashtags you frequently use to make sure you continue to align your company appropriately. It doesn’t take long for hashtags to get used for the wrong reason, which could suddenly put you or your business in a bad spotlight.

And that’s it! Three super simple but effective tips. We hope they help you keep your reputation strong this year ahead!
